John Tomaszewski is a Vice President at NaviAsia Consulting Group. He has over 15 years combined experience in consulting and industry. Some of John’s emphases are in strategy, merger and acquisitions, operations, supply chain, strategic sourcing, and organizational transformation. His prior experience includes managing engagements at A.T. Kearney, Inc. and BP Amoco.
Some examples of his relevant business experience to China ventures are:
- Conducted chemical and refinery economics to assist BP Amoco to enter the China market
- Chinese natural gas joint venture financial and administrative management
- Developed market entry strategy utilizing a JV model in Latin America and China
- Strategic sourcing of automotive parts to China and Chinese supplier evaluation resulting in average savings range from 35-60%
In addition, John has abundant experience in other emerging markets, such as Mexico, Romania, and Poland.
George Wu is a Vice President at NaviAsia Consulting Group, leading NaviAsia Consulting Group, Supply Chain Support Group (SCSG) and other NaviAsia Group invested operations’ in Asia. George has over 15 years of management consulting and industrial experience in China and U.S. George's expertise is in the strategy development and implementation of China related initiatives, which includes but is not limited to market entry, manufacturing operation set-up, strategic sourcing and supply chain management. Prior to joining NaviAsia, George held various positions at Chentao International Consulting Company, Ford, Owens Corning, and A.T. Kearney, Inc.
George's key experiences in China ventures are:
- Conducted joint venture partner screening and acquisition target identification for more than 25 U.S. companies; assisted clients in deal structuring and negotiations; performed project management role on the entire process till new venture founded
- Conducted supplier selection, verification, set-up and manage long-term supply base for U.S./European companies; Managed product development and volume production, cost structure improvement, logistics optimization and continuous supplier development. Product categories covered include: injection and blow molding, metal fabrications, castings, industrial and consumable electronics, specialty chemicals and industrial commodities such as steel, stainless steel, foundry and casting supplies, etc.
- Assisted over 15 U.S. companies for China market entry. Industry examples include: construction material, consumer products, mining/transportation equipment, telecommunication equipment, auto parts, and consumer and industrial electronics
- Assisted clients to establish extensive business networks in China, gaining government support on IP protection, obtaining favorable tax benefits, and building strong mutual trust
As a Beijing native, George's broad personal and business connections ( guanxi ) in China with central and local government provide additional benefits and assurances for successful implementation in China .
Bill Liu is a Vice President at NaviAsia Consulting Group. Bill has more than 18 years of combined experience in consulting and industry. He specializes in strategy, marketing, and operations management, with a focus on international business.
Prior to joining NaviAsia, Bill worked for Lucent Technologies, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and Waste Management, Inc.
Bill received his PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and later earned a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
- In his current position, Bill advises U.S. companies on how to more efficiently achieve their marketing and manufacturing goals in China. He has helped clients with China strategic sourcing in the metal, plastics and electronics industries. Specifically, he assisted a manufacturing company to establish its manufacturing base in China, and designed a chemical company's China market-entry strategy.
- Bill led Lucent Technologies'successful international eBusiness operations in both Asia and Canada. He also managed the sales and marketing program for Lucent's JV plant in China.
- Bill serves and has served on a number of China-related advisory boards, including; the City of Chicago's China Committee, Benedictine University, and the Harbin Business Exchange. He is also the co-Executive Director of the One China Committee, and a committee member of the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations'west chapter.
- A frequent guest lecturer for Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Business, Bill was a keynote speaker at Kellogg's 2005 Asian Business Conference. In addition, he has lectured on "Negotiation with Chinese" and "Strategic Sourcing from China" at Kellogg. Bill is also very involved with the Kellogg Alumni Club of Chicago (KACC). He founded the KACC’s Asia/Pacific Committee, and the KACC's Western Chapter.
- Bill has lectured about China for a variety of corporations and events that include: Navistar, Citibank, 53 Bank, Harris Bank, Ungaretti & Harris, the Commercial Development and Marketing Association (CDMA), Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals (ASAP), World Trade Center of Illinois, and the Measurement Control and Automation Association. Bill also is a speaker at the 2007 International Home & Housewares Show.
- Bill serves on the board of directors for Standard Rubber Products (Zhuhai) Company Limited, Zhuhai, China and Naperville United Way.
Charles Li is a Vice President at NaviAsia Consulting Group and a leader of NaviAsia's Globalization and Growth Practice and Electronics Manufacturing Services Practice. He is also one of the architects of firm's subsidary, NaviAsia Supply Chain Support Group (SCSG). Charles has over 14 years experience in consulting and industry in the U.S and Greater China, and he has consulted to a range of industries including automotive, consumer packaged and industrial goods, electronics, financial services, telecommunication and medical device.
- Assisted more than 10 US companies in China strategic sourcing initiatives with development of strategy, in-depth review of make/buy options, identification, negotiation and setting up of supply bases across China
- Conducted the strategic and day-to-day suppliers management and the implementation of China-US supply chain with identified annual buy of over $100MM for US companies
- Established and developed the core supply base for electronic manufacturing to achieve top 1% in product quality in China on behalf of US companies. Managed the end-to-end supply chain activities from new product development, raw materials procurement, volume manufacturing and quality assurance programs for more than twenty product lines
- Designed China growth and market entry strategy and created strategic alliances in automotive, consumer packaged goods, financial services, and medical device industries for US companies
Prior to joining NaviAsia, His prior experience includes McKinsey & Company, Morgan Stanley and Dell Computer. Charles holds an MBA from University of Michigan as well as BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Wisconsin – Madison.
